The Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO) is hiring passionate, energetic and mission-driven teachers across our centers and collaborating schools throughout Rensselaer County NY.  

Our Early Childhood Education team work with the whole family to support the education and personal growth of the children in our program because we believe every child deserves the best possible start in life. 

Our Teachers:  

• Promote children’s development and learning through the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum 
• Use age-appropriate and positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect inappropriate classroom behavior  
• Build positive relationships with staff and families through positive and professional communication, creating a welcoming environment, respecting diversity, and encouraging parent participation in the center and collaborating schools

Early Head Start Teacher Qualifications: 

• An AAS or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Infant/Toddler CDA (Child Development Associate)
• Knowledge of Infant/Toddler child development and family interaction
• The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing 

Preschool Teacher Qualifications:   

• AAS or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education  
• Previous experience working with children  
• Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and Office of Children and Family Services Day Care Regulations preferred

Universal Pre-K Teacher Qualifications: 

• A New York State certification in Pre-Kindergarten (General Ed. Or Special Ed)
• Experience teaching preschool-age children
