Utah Community Action of Salt Lake City, UT is seeking to hire a full-time, year-round, Program Specialist to supervise and coach our Head Start Teachers.

This Program Specialist position earns a competitive wage of $26.05/hour based on experience and credentials. We also offer generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, a flexible spending account (FSA), a healthcare spending account (HSA) with up to a $2,500 match, a 401k plan with 5% match, short and long-term disability, accident insurance, life insurance, 11 paid holidays, paid time off between Christmas and New Year's, paid time off (PTO up to 192 hours a year), and an hour of paid time on Fridays for self-care. Position located in North area of Salt Lake City.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PROGRAM SPECIALIST

• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Family and Consumer Studies; or Bachelor's Degree in a related field with emphasis in Early Childhood essential topics required.
• Previous supervisor experience
• Two years of related experience and previous Head Start experience required.
• Know how to supervise, mentor, and coach, Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Classroom Aides, and Substitutes in collaboration with the Program Coordinators in the areas of Health, Education and Family Partnership.
• Set performance and professional goals with teaching staff. Offer skillful, reflective supervision that builds on staff member's individual strengths.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PROGRAM SPECIALIST

As a Program Specialist you will support and respect individual children and families' cultural beliefs, including their home language. Understanding, and promoting the children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development is a valuable skill you will cultivate. You maintain a monitoring system to track all program activities. You spend a lot of time reviewing, analyzing, and compiling monthly reports to ensure compliance, is done on a regular basis. You will Ensure that TSGOLD checkpoints and documentation are completed within the required timeline. Motivated to continually develop your knowledge in social services, you participate in ongoing Professional Development and keep up-to-date on current research and trends, attend trainings, workshops and/or conferences. You get great satisfaction in supporting staff to teach families the importance of preventative care in the areas of health, nutrition, and mental health. You enjoy regularly conducting classroom visits throughout the school year.
