CLASSIFICATION: Full-time. Full-Year or Seasonal. Non-Exempt.
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and MVCDC Service Plans, Policies and Procedures. Under the guidance of a Lead Teacher and the Education chain of command, an Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting with the supervision and supportive management of a classroom in accordance with the philosophy, goals and curricular plan of MVCDC.
An Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting in the development of lesson plans, implementing daily activities, assisting with the creation of and maintenance of a positive culture, and health and safety, both physical and emotional, maintaining regular communication with supervisors and contributing to the overall effective operation of the child development program. Ensures compliance with ODJFS, USDA, Health and Sanitation regulations. Ensures the implementation of the agency designated curriculum.
MINIMUM CREDENTIALS: Have a CDA (Child Development Associate) or Associates degree in Early Childhood Education; or enroll in a Child Development Associate (CDA) program or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education - completing within 24 months (after their 60-day Introductory Period). A valid driver's license is required.
SHIFT: 1st shift hours between 7:30am – 6:30pm (varied) Monday - Friday

SALARY: Base salary compensation will be commensurate with meeting both Education and Experience.
