BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
As a primary service provider for Early Head Start families enrolled in the home based program, the Home Visitor provides early, comprehensive child development, case management, infant/parent relationship support and family support services to enhance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of participating children. The Home Visitor promotes positive parent-child interactions and provides services to pregnant women and parents and children birth to three years that support their role as parents. Provides socializations/playgroups for enrolled families. Assists parents in strengthening their involvement in their child’s learning by creating a home learning environment, participating in the Policy Council. Complete no fewer than 46 home visits and 22 group socializations annually, evaluating results and updating family and children’s plan.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a minimum of a Home-Based CDA credential or obtain within the first year of hire, or a comparable credential or equivalent coursework as part of an Associates or Bachelor’s Degree ECE
- Demonstrate competency to plan and implement home-based learning experiences that ensure effective implementation of the home visiting curriculum;
- Promote children's progress across the standards described in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework: Ages Birth to Five, including for children with disabilities and dual language learners, as appropriate; and
- Build respectful, culturally responsive, and trusting relationships with families.
- Must have knowledge of community resources with demonstrated experience providing parent education to families. Familiar with Fairfax County communities. Two to three years’ experience in Early Childhood development and education, social services, or in a family support program with at risk families required.
- Ability to utilize basic office equipment and have a working knowledge of computers and data entry systems (i.e. Child Plus)
- At least two years of successful related experience
- Bilingual Spanish required (speak, translate and comprehend)
- Must be COVID-19 vaccinated
